Final Gear/Gear Ratios
“Adjust the final gear ratio. In general, increasing the value results in
quicker acceleration, while reducing the value helps improve maximum
speed.”
Adjust the Final Gear to maximize top speed at the end of the longest
straight, reaching max revs but not the limiter. You want your gears to be as
short as possible in order to achieve maximum acceleration.
General rule: set your first/second gears so that you can manage low speed
hairpins; you can choose to use a longer first gear or shorter second. Also,
adjust your gears individually so that you don’t need to change gear during
challenging corners, otherwise car balance can be compromised.
